The Golden Chi City-Wide Chapter was chartered in Indianapolis, Indiana on Saturday, March 14, 1925, originally as a mixed chapter (collegiate and alumnae members). Mrs. Jeanette Summers Cary was the first President and one of six charter members. Martha Hall, Bernice Copeland Lindsay, Frieda Campbell Parker, Lucielle Stokes, and Mary Stokes were also captivating charter members.
In December of 1925, the membership grew to nine with the induction of the first initiates; Lucy Bell Dupree, Dora Hodge, and Nancy Corley Powell.
On September 29,1977, the alumnae members reconstructed the chapter and it became the Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter. The Chi City-Wide chapter was reactivated as a collegiate chapter in 1985 and again in 1992.
